Hello, and welcome to Zeus Gun Dog Training. This is my wife Mary and I'm Joe Dunham
Mary and I have been married for Eighteen years and have raised our two daughters. Our youngest daughter Becky,(who is now 22), has been cleaning birds and following me down the ditches and across the fields since she was about five years old. When she was nine, she took her hunters saftey course, with me by her side. A year later, her older sister Kay C (who is now 25) was ready to follow us across the fields. Mary, on the other hand, stays home and keeps everyone in line. When Mary and I were married, I gave Mary her diamond (a girl's best friend) and she gave me Zeus (man's best friend). Zeus was a German Shorthaired Pointer and Mary fell in love with the breed and wanted to breed GSP's; I wanted no part of that. ( We lost ZEUS in April of 2006). Seven years ago Mary convinced me to get her a female and that's when Contessa joined our family along with her brother, Thor.
Maybe I should explain: When we went to the breeder to pick out Contessa, she asked if we wanted to see the males, and of course I said yes! Thor was the runt and won both our hearts, so instead of one their was two additions to our family.
Mary knew that Thor needed a female of his own so Mary found Venus and at the same time that she was about to join our family, Titus was one we couldn't pass up, so again we went by two's.
In January of 2006 Contessa blessed us with eleven puppies. Cyrus, the runt of the bunch, was using his nose before his eyes were opened and I had already made up my mind the he was going to stay a member of the Dunham family. Oh wait you guessed it... Athena was one of the most loving and sweet puppies and won Mary's heart, so again it was the only way to go... by two's.
In June of 2006, Mary & I bought our home here in Cornell, Illinois and have made a lot of new friends As we have grown in our dreams, our family has also grown. We have added two more GSP's; "Pugsley" and "Juno" and have also added "Maia",
a Papillion; who thinks she is a GSP. That gets us to where we are today.
I do all the training with birds, field work, whistle and hand signals. Mary works with the obedience training (keeping everyone in line) and handles all the Breeding of our dogs.
We treat each and every dog that comes to our home as a family member. So give us a call or email to set up a time to come and visit with us.
